"The manager of the DRDO guest house communicated with the Pakistan ISI and disclosed information about India's defence operations."

A man from Jaisalmer was detained by the Rajasthan Police’s CID (Security) wing on Tuesday on suspicion of spying for Pakistan’s ISI and disclosing strategic and private information.

The defendant, named as 32-year-old Mahendra Prasad, was employed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at the Chandan Field Firing Range as a contractual manager of a guest house.

Prasad, who lived in Palyun, Almora, Uttarakhand, was detained on suspicion of espionage in accordance with the Official Secrets Act 1923. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to appear in court.

In light of the approaching Independence Day festivities, Inspector General of Police CID (Security) Dr. Vishnukant stated that the police have stepped up their monitoring to stop any potential subversive and anti-national actions by foreign agents.

During this surveillance, it was discovered that Prasad was communicating with the Pakistani intelligence agency via social media and giving Pakistani handlers sensitive information about the movements of Indian Army officers and DRDO scientists who visit the Firing Range to test missiles and other weapons.

After a technological study of Prasad’s cell phone, it was determined that the accused had also given his Pakistani handlers access to private information about DRDO operations and Indian Army actions.

Investigators are currently working to determine the scope of the security breach and determine whether any other individuals are also connected to the network.
